Presented here is a small selection of classwork from my students from over two years of teaching the entertainment design class.
The intent was to recognize, through visual research, and referencing a variety of artists and designers spanning four decades of film, television, and animation. I wanted to the class to understand the influence of narrative through distinct technological limitations on a specific design topic: robots. Subsequent assignments exposed them to common image industry creation methods, working within the limitations of a narrative brief, and original designs based on existing IPs and technology. The term culminated on an original design and [ideally] a physical model build based on the accumulated exercises.
